Preaching with Diarrhea

On Thursday, I got a case of diarrhea.  I’ll spare you the mushy details.  As a relatively healthy person, I had not countered this problem before.  My life as a preacher complicated the matter.  I waited for medicine to work.  I went to the doctor who assured me I was not contagious.  I recovered slightly on Saturday, enough to think that I was getting over it.  Do I cancel church?  Do I put my faith in man-made chemicals to actually work?  Do I tell the congregations so that they know why I am struggling to perform?

Oh…and I have 3 churches.

Alas, I made it through.  One church heard a good sermon.  The others celebrated Mother’s Day despite me.

Have any others contended with this matter?  What did you do?
